Bengaluru Live News Updates: Karnataka High Court has dismissed Twitter’s petition challenging the blocking orders issued to it by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The court also imposed a cost of Rs 50 lakh on Twitter, citing its conduct. Twitter had approached the HC in June 2022 against the orders issued by the ministry. The Centre had argued that Twitter being a foreign entity cannot claim enforcement of fundamental rights. Objecting to this, Twitter informed the court that it was invoking the writ jurisdiction for violation of protocols prescribed under Section 69A of the IT Act. It also claimed in a rejoinder to the court that rights under Article 14 were available to foreign entities also.
Meanwhile, from July 1 onwards, if you avail the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, be prepared to shell out more money from your pocket as toll fare. Starting at 8 am, travellers using a car will have to pay Rs 320 for one way and Rs 485 if he/she is returning on the same day. The increase in the toll fares came into effect after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) decided to collect toll between Mysuru and Nidaghatta at Maddur. This will be the second toll plaza on the expressway. At the existing one, the Sheshagirihalli toll plaza, cars pay Rs 165 for a one-way transit.
